Four-Day Pensacola History Voyage and Tour
The "Emerald Coast"
of Florida is internationally known for its white sand beaches and crystal
clear Gulf waters, and now travel enthusiasts are discovering our unique
history our beautiful bays and bayous. Undoubtedly, the coastal schooner
is the perfect way to explore the Emerald Coast, taking you to the remote
anchorages and historic locations in comfort and in touch with mother
nature. We encourage you to join in with a professional crew as an active
crewmember, to raise and trim sails, to navigate, to anchor, help prepare
meals in
the galley and to care for the vessel. We operate on a team concept, each
team member sharing the duties and responsibilities of the ship.
Day One
7:00 am. --Depart Destin aboard the wooden
schooner, The Daniel Webster Clements. This is an authentic replica of
the coastal vessel that did the hard work along the northern Gulf shores
a hundred years ago. The Clements is 72-feet long, weighs 32-tons
and has a
broad beam.
A simple breakfast of fresh fruit, coffee or tea and bagels will be served
as the Clements heads west on the Santa Rosa Sound toward Pensacola, whose
modern history began over 100 years before the Pilgrims. Lunch will
be served on-board and dinner the first night will be at anchorage in
the Santa Rosa Sound.
Day Two
6:00 am. The crew will be up early to put us underway while
you watch the sunrise and let the scent of fresh brewed coffee and fresh
sea air work up an appetite for a hearty breakfast.
9:30 am. Dock in downtown Pensacola
10:00 am. Guided Tour of Historic Downtown Pensacola
Noon. Lunch at Dharma Blue on Historic Seville Square
1:30 pm. Options
· Visit
antique stores and art galleries.
· Take trolley and visit other historic spots outside of
downtown. (Guided).
6:00 pm.Dockside seafood boil.
Day Three
7:00 am. Wake-up and enjoy sunrise and dockside breakfast
8:00 am. Sail to and go ashore and explore Fort
Pickens followed by a picnic lunch.
1:00 pm.Head for home. You will receive a beautiful cocktail
table book on the history of Pensacola to read and keep as memento. You
can help crew, relax and read, look for Dolphin, keep an eye out for historic
sites and
simply kick back and enjoy the ride.
5:00 pm.Drop anchor, watch the sunset, dine and enjoy our
final night together under the stars.
Day Four
6:00 am. Set sail into the sunrise and savor your breakfast.
Pack up and make the Clements shipshape.
Noon---Arrive back in Destin.
The Daniel Webster Clements has excellent space for group activities and
accommodations. Below she is light spacious and simply appointed. In her
construction we have exposed
many of her timbers below decks accentuating her rich nautical heritage.
You choose from spacious well ventilated state rooms and larger common
berthing and living areas. The Clements has three heads, with hot
showers and a fresh water shower on the deck.
Sail dates available spring, early summer and fall. 12 guests are needed
to sail.
Cost Per person $790.00--including all meals, crew gratuity museum
admissions, guide and land transportation in Pensacola.
